New Group Brings Scientific Disciplines Together

A new research group in the College of Science and Math promises to explore exciting new avenues of scientific thought. Advanced Computational Problems Group (ACPG), formed by ASG director Dr. Joseph Johnson, will use advanced methods of theoretical physics and mathematics to study and develop information theory applications and to use computation to address problems.

Led by Dr. Johnson and theoretical physicist Dr. Vladimir Gudkov, ACPG promises to bring scientists from several different departments together, using an interdisciplinary approach to perform research and solve problems in theoretical physics, mathematics, biology, information technology, and other fields. The group currently sponsors a weekly seminar, and lecture topics so far have covered Fuzzy Numbers, Random Matrix Theory, Fourier Analysis and Wavelet Theory, and Information Systems Security.
