State Criminal Records Access Improves
ASG developers strive to meet the needs of local, regional, and state justice providers.
The Jail, Magistrate, Warrant (JMW) software, a system for local records management, provides accessible features for jails, prisons, and courts. Improvements include more effective searches as well as better methods for producing a variety of reports, such as outstanding parking tickets.
Improved error searching in the JMW software and in export procedures to the South Carolina Jail-Prison Information Network (JPIN) allows problem data to be more easily identified and corrected. Officer names and IDs also are now transmitted to JPIN. These features allow more information to be accepted and stored by the South Carolina Integrated Criminal Records Information System (SCI-CRIS) web site, where authorized criminal justice personnel can search all submitted jail, court, and registration records.
JPIN has also become accessible to more criminal justice personnel across the state. Clerks of court in many areas now can more easily view up-to-date records of jail and prison incarcerations, allowing them to reschedule trial dates and redirect warrants served. Such expansion greatly speeds the flow of courtwork to allow overall improvements to justice in South Carolina.
