Industrial Impact Evaluation System
The Industrial Impact Evaluation System (IIES) for South Carolina was developed for the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR). IIES integrates modeling software and a graphical information system to support analysts and decision makers in evaluating the effect that one or more industries would have on the rest of the industries in South Carolina if they were partially or completely damaged. One of the underlying assumptions of the current prototype is that the State of South Carolina represents a closed economic and physical system. This assumption was applied because the data for industrial interaction outside of South Carolina was not available for expanding the two models that are implemented. This was due to the limited scope of this project.
Data for the industries used in this model do not include agriculture information at this time. As a result, the NAICS codes fall in the range of 200000 to 999999.
